PUBLISHERS’ NOTE
In this mechanised age of hurry, anxiety, hope and disappointment, where duty gets mixed up with ambition, the good with the pleasant where much time is taken away in complying with the demands of the outer man, indeed little time is left for one’s contemplation on the higher values of life. The time which one can spare seems to be so little that there is in the modern man a disinclination to plod through heavy times. Facts which are tersely and directly expressed in a precise form appeal, to the busy mind, more than elaborate disquisitions and long commentaries, especially when the subject of study is the higher supernormal Nature, the spiritual Verity. Those who are acquainted with the writings of Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj will know very well how he has spared no pains in disseminating to the nook and corner of the world the knowledge of the spiritual Reality, and the way of approaching it, in a manner most appealing to the human heart. His versatile genius has, with a direct knowledge of every side of human nature, catered for all kinds of expressions of spiritual hunger and appeased the same in a most marvellous manner. Sri Suryakant Shahji, an earnest seeker and an admirer of Sri Swamiji Maharaj has rendered an invaluable service to the aspirant-world by compiling such portions from the Swamiji’s writings as would be readily acceptable, easily digestible and quickly assimilable and would be a great help in one’s endeavour to march towards the Goal. The selections are well made to suit different temperaments of Sadhakas, and the book, as a whole, is a very interesting and useful pocket-guide. The loving efforts and munificence of the compiler are solely responsible for this publication, and we believe that this act of love and sacrifice will serve its purpose and be amply rewarded when eager spiritual aspirants find in it the needed food for the head and the heart, a great consolation and aid, never failing and ever comforting with precepts of profound wisdom.

THE COMPILER
My beloved disciple, Sri Suryakant B. Shah, of Ahmedabad, the compiler of this Divine Treasure, came to the Ashram, during the first week of July, with the specific purpose of taking to intense spiritual practices.
A Graduate, well-versed in Vedanta, Sri Suryakantji, is a sincere aspirant with an innate spiritual urge to evolve rapidly towards the Goal of Life, Self-realization. His knowledge is wedded to humility; and his lectures at the Yoga-Vedanta Forest University have the ring of simplicity and sincerity, which mark him out as a diligent Sadhaka worthy of every youth’s emulation.
He has compiled this booklet for the benefit of the spiritual aspirants; he has placed all Sadhakas under a deep debt of gratitude to him by this labour of love. You can repay that debt only if you sincerely lead the Divine Life and attain Immortality in this very birth.
May God bless Sri Suryakant B. Shah with health, long life, peace, prosperity and Eternal Bliss!

INTRODUCTION
With gracious blessings of Sri Swamiji Sivananda Saraswati, I have been so fortunate as to present, with pious intentions, this small booklet of Divine Treasure to the public so that they may be immensely benefited by the Spiritual Teachings of Swamiji in a nutshell.
While staying in the Ashram for Sadhana, several circumstances made me realize keenly the immense suffering of the world. The misery of humanity was brought home to me most forcibly. Swamiji’s Divine Medicine in the form of his guidance has cured countless sufferers of the fiery disease of Samsaric life. This booklet is the very essence of his noble guidance and I am very highly obliged to his generosity to allow me to publish this booklet in the best interest of all concerned.
The life of Swamiji has been one of intense Devotion, Sadhana and self-sacrifice. He has written more than hundred and fifty books on Yoga, Vedanta and Philosophy of Human Life in general. He has a rare unity of the old and new ideas with all the more sublimity and Divinity. To me he is the only All-Powerful Soul in our age, with all the divine qualities and qualifications, to guide the world towards Peace and Prosperity.
My heartfelt thanks are due to Sri Swami Raghavananda but for whose help and loving guidance this booklet would have been an impossibility.
The booklet has been purposely prepared as a pocket-guide so that it may be easy for everyone to carry it in a pocket or a hand-bag and make use of it day in and day out. I earnestly hope and wish that the ‘Divine Treasure’ will really prove a rare treasure to all souls aspiring to attain Divinity.

NOTHING LIKE THESE
There is no teacher like pain.
There is no religion like charity.
There is no treasure like the wealth of Atma.
There is no friend like the spiritual preceptor.
There is no enemy like anger.
There is no abode like Brahman.
There is no safe boat like Satsanga to cross this Samsara.

NONE BELONGS TO YOU
Go on with all your duties, but fix the mind on
God. Live with all,—wife, children and parents—
and serve them as if they were your most intimate
relatives. But in your heart, you should know that
none of them belongs to you.
TRUTH AND FALSEHOOD
"I am the body" is a falsehood;
"I am all-pervading Brahman or Soul" is Truth.
"She is my wife" is a falsehood;
"She is my very Self" is Truth.
"That bungalow is mine" is a falsehood;
"Nothing is mine" is Truth.
"I did this, I enjoyed this" is a falsehood;
"I am a silent witness" is Truth.
"I am the actor" is a falsehood;
"I am the actionless Atma" is Truth.
"The world is real" is a falsehood;
"Brahman alone is real" is Truth.
"There is pleasure in objects" is a falsehood;
"There is Bliss in one’s own Atma only" is Truth.
"This is a world of names and forms" is a falsehood;
"All indeed is Brahman" is Truth.
