Om Sri Ganeshaya Namah!
Om Namo Bhagavate Sivanandaya!
Om Namo Bhagavate Chidanandaya!

by Sri Swami Chidananda
Blessed spiritual radiance, worshipful Gurudev! We bow in devotion, faith and simplicity before you and accept with eagerness and earnestness this gift of your presence and this gift of proximity to you in this sanctified Samadhi Shrine. In this holy Ashram on the banks of the Divine Mother Ganga, we come to you with eagerness once again in this early dawn to sit in spiritual fellowship and to contemplate the ever-pure, ever-perfect, all-full Paramatman. We come to contemplate, to sit in prayerfulness, to try to bless ourselves by this fellowship, and to begin the day in the ideal way so that as each minute of this day advances, we shall have made it full, holy and happy.
Thanks to Gurudev’s enlightening teachings, ours is a life that flows in that direction which liberates us from darkness and from this ceaseless wheel of ever-recurring births and deaths. Ours is a life that is an ascent unto Divinity. This drawing close to the presence of this great awakening force which is Gurudev means to us a daily renewal of the awareness that we are dedicated to the effort to be awake and that we never cease until we emerge into a consciousness of the supreme Reality.
If from corner to corner of the world millions are grateful to him and millions of lives have been transformed and elevated to new heights, what is the reason? How was Swami Sivananda Maharaj able to achieve this? Many people have never had a glimpse of him, never met him, never spoken to him, never known him in the flesh—and yet thousands of those people are living a changed life, and every morning they are remembering him with much gratitude and love. Why? Because of the wisdom teachings that he shared with all and which he spread to every nook and corner of the world. It was with a great purpose that he did so; it was his salient mission on earth.
He was determined, and he spread his teachings by all means possible. He did this great dissemination of spiritual knowledge throughout his life, and he inspired all his disciples to do likewise. “Share knowledge; let everyone know.” This knowledge has entered into your life and hearts and has made you into Sadhakas and real devotees of God. It has made you into human beings with the ideal to be principled, disciplined human beings with noble values, ethics and spirituality.
Tuesday, July 11th is the 60th Punyatithi Aradhana of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj (anniversary of the physical passing of a saint). .

Yours in the service of Gurudev,
Walk in This Light
by Sri Swami Chidananda
Whenever Swamiji Maharaj was in residence at the Sivananda Ashram, he would come to the early morning meditation in the Samadhi Shrine and give a talk to the devotees assembled there. Those of us who were privileged enough to have been present at many of those talks know how powerful and inspiring they could be. But to be entirely accurate, we could not actually say that Swamiji gave ‘talks’ as such. It was more in the way of a sharing, an offering, a being together worshipfully in the presence of God and Gurudev. Swamiji did not speak about a subject so much as he communicated directly with people. Just what was needed was provided.
The talks from Swamiji that constitute the main body of this book took place for the most part in 1988 and 1989. It was obvious from reading through the talks while preparing the book that there was an overriding theme that keep coming up over and over again—that of light. Frequently Swamiji would make reference to the "light that is within" or "the light of lights beyond all darkness," and it was clear that this focus on light was not a casual or merely passing one, and it is for that reason that the title of the book, Walk in This Light, seemed most appropriate.
The book consists of fifty chapters divided into five sections, and each of the sections makes reference to some form of light or illumination: "This Awakening Light," "The Light of Lights Beyond all Darkness," "The Dawning of Knowledge," "Within You Shines the Ever-Present Reality," and "Illumined with Divine Wisdom." The chapters themselves are generally quite short and are thereby easy to read and assimilate, and one can read them repeatedly, each time gaining a new insight or angle of vision.
We, the editors, would like to thank all the wonderful and devoted people who served in bringing this book into being, but most of all we would like to thank Sri Swami Chidanandaji! We want to thank him most particularly for his life of service and teachings, a life which is being most joyously celebrated in this book.

VALUE OF TROUBLES: The Master narrated to a visitor how a certain inmate of the Ashram had formerly some family troubles and how these led her to renounce the world and join the Ashram.
“The troubles that happen are all for our good. They makes us divine.”
“Becoming a human being is not the final aim of life. There are an endless number of human beings. Everybody who walks with two feet and speaks some language is considered as a human being, but that is not so. There are cannibal human beings. They are also human beings, but they can behave like cannibals. But there are others who are not cannibals, but are very selfish people. They will see what is good for them, whether or not it is good for you. They are better than cannibals, but they will not care for you. There are still higher people who will do to tit for tat. Whatever you do to me, I will do to you. They are a little more improved type of people. They will not do you harm unless you do them harm. Then there are other people who will not do harm at all, even if you behave badly. After that is the saint, after that is the sage, after that is the Godman, after that is God Himself.” – Swami Krishnananda
