In December 1999, Pujya Swami Chidanandaji Maharaj gave a series of discourses at the Sangit Kala Mandir, Calcutta. The theme was 'Anatomy of Life Spiritual'. Swamiji Maharaj gives an insight into life spiritual, dispels the misunderstandings and hints on the necessary practice on the part of the seeker after truth. Swamiji says, 'We have come from an abode of eternal life where there is no darkness. Having come into contact with these factors that make our gross human physical personality... somehow or other we have moved away from our true centre of consciousness (nijaswarupa) and become identified with something which is not our real nature. We are caught in a state of body-consciousness (dehadhyasa) and forgotten our pristine divine nature.' In order to regain the lost state, we have to take recourse to the outer spiritual practices devised by our ancient seers and sages and gradually changing the nature of our mind we can 'rise from the darkness of ignorance and move towards the great light of supreme self-knowledge (atma-jnana or brahma-jnana), rise from getting entangled in the cycle of birth and death and attain the supreme abode (param-dham).' May these guidelines help us to progress in the spiritual path.
